Local composers featured in benefit concert

June 5, 2012

From medieval French dances to Russian folk, compositions of past and present Kamloops musicians will be highlighted at a benefit concert Sunday night.

The performance takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the Alliance Church on Fortune Drive. Kamloops Symphony Orchestra director Bruce Dunn, Carl Muirhead of the Thompson Valley Community Orchestra and Ryan Noakes of the Kamloops Community Band are the featured composers.

Tickets are $15 ($10 for seniors and children aged five to 12) and are available from any band member or at the door. Proceeds from ticket sales go to the Canadian Diabetes Association in honour of Dick Dickens, founding music director of the Kamloops Community Band.
