Possible candidate comes forward as Liberal search begins
A day after longtime MLA Kevin Krueger made his exit plan public, a potential candidate to succeed him has stepped forward.
Todd Stone, president and CEO of iCompass Technologies, a Kamloops software company, said Thursday that he's considering a run at the nomination after being approached by other Liberal party members.
"I'm seriously considering it," Stone said, indicating he'll make a decision within the next couple of weeks. "I think it's a tremendous opportunity to contribute to the community and to be a voice at the table."
In addition to his private-sector work, Stone is a director of the Thompson Nicola Cariboo United Way and recently served on the board of ICBC. This would be his first foray into politics, although he's been on the sidelines as a Liberal supporter for some time.
"I want to acknowledge the 17 years of public service Kevin has provided," Stone said. "He's a dear friend and he's done a fabulous job for the people of Kamloops."
Stone said he's sure a number of others are giving the opportunity some thought.
