Pop-can-shooting thugs assault rec site caretaker

July 6, 2012

A caretaker at Campbell Lake rec site south of Barnhartvale was pushed around and almost run over by a couple of thugs now being sought by police.

Kamloops RCMP have put out a call for information about two men associated with a newer black Dodge Ram pickup truck with 715 as the last digits of the licence place.

Just before 3 a.m. Friday, the caretaker at the site confronted two men setting up pop cans for target practice, Kamloops Rural detachment Staff Sgt. Doug Aird said in a press release.

The caretaker told the two men to leave, at which point one of them shoved him to the ground and the other tried to drive over him.

The duo left, but returned later, throwing rocks and threatening to kill the caretaker.

Police are dealing with the case as an assault, with dangerous driving and uttering threats also involved.

The Ram has a chrome stripe on the bottom, with a lift kit and a boat in the back with the bow facing outward.

The two men are Caucasian, in their early 20s. They were wearing dark clothes. One had curly light-coloured hair.

"Police are pulling out all stops as they do an off line search of the partial plate," Aird said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kamloops detachment at 828-3000 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
