Timewell swims, rides and runs way to Peach Classic women’s title

Yvonne Timewell had a great showing at the Investors Group Peach Classic Triathlon on the weekend, taking 17th overall in the Olympic distance.

Timewell was the fastest female overall, her time of 2:26:17 a mere 23 seconds ahead of Vernon’s Sarah Clark.

Timewell also was the fastest Kamloops racer, as well as the top masters athlete. She earned $300 for winning the female competition, plus $100 for being top master and $50 for having the fastest bike ride among women.

Timewell did the 1,500-metre swim in 27:13, before a time of 1:13:26 in the 40km bike. She finished with a 10km run of 44:04.

Wayne Winsor was the fastest Kamloops man, finishing in 2:37:55 to take 35th overall. Kamloops’ Charlie Bruce won the men’s 65-69 division in the Olympic distance.

Penticton’s Jeff Symonds took the overall Olympic distance title in 2:00:24.

There also was a Sprint distance, featuring a 750m swim, a 20km ride and a 5km run. Colleen Klassen was the fastest local, taking second in the women’s 50-54 division in a time of 1:37.46. She was 41st overall in the Sprint competition.
