OFFICIAL DENIAL: The Art of the Apology opens from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Arnica Artist Run Centre in the Old Courthouse Gallery at 7 W. Seymour St. Official Denial is a creative response to the apology by Stephen Harper to the First Nations, Metis and Inuit people of Canada. The show features new media, paintings, carvings, clothing and film by acclaimed First Nations artists.
WAX MANNEQUIN plays The Art We Are, 246 Victoria St at 8 p.m. Wax Mannequin comes from Hamilton; a damaged, underdog town and a perfect breeding ground for strange, variant things. Incorporating folk, scrappy prog-metal and a tireless creative ethic, he now finds himself a forerunner in a strange new movement: roaming recluses and attention-seekers, equipped with laptops, damaged instruments and decaying minivans, making new sounds, informed by hard travel and rough living. Admission is $6 at the door.

INTERNATIONAL AFRICAN ARTIST Ezra Kwizera plays The Art We Are, 246 Victoria St., at 8 p.m. Kwizera’s music carries the spark of an enthusiastic life, along with the rich undertones of someone who has seen and survived hardships, war, and poverty. Growing up as a Rwandan refugee in Uganda, he has risen up to become one of the most notable artists and music producers in East Africa and internationally. His music consists of Traditional, Reggae, Soca, and African Dance Hall. Admission is $6 at the door.

HARMONY FOR THE HOUSE happens at the Blue Grotto Aug. 11. Ten bands play for 10 hours to make 10 times the fun. Join us in fundraising for the Kamloops Hospice House. This event is held alongside Kamloops' Hot Night in the City. The Blue Grotto patio will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. selling cold beer and hotdogs. Donations will be taken at the door and all monies raised will be donated to the Hospice House.
THE THOMPSON-Shuswap Chef Farmer Collaborative invites all to the second annual Farm2Chefs culinary grazing event and fundraiser on Sunday, Aug. 12, 3-6 p.m. at Thistle Farm at 710 Dairy Rd. in Westsyde. COMPOSER RON KLUSMEIER will perform at Mount Paul United Church, 421 St.Paul St., on Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Klusmeier will perform on behalf of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank on his final tour before retirement; “Tour of a Lifetime.” Cost is $20 per person with $5 from each ticket going to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, which is a partnership of 15 churches working together to end global hunger. X FEST 2012 IS HERE! The annual outdoor theatre event takes place until Aug. 11 with shows at 7:30 p.m. nightly, except Sundays.
